VID: One More Mile (ReGenesis) - high quality version
08:04pm 22/07/2007
Also, I managed to get WMM to save a high quality version of ReGenesis vid 'One More Mile'.

http://www.mediafire.com/?8d0dedyjd1t

It's about 59MB, WMV. I wouldn't normally post something that large, but this is a very clip-intensive and movement-intensive vid and there really is still a great deal of difference from the 40MB vesion. (AKA, it looks frelling fantastic and makes me happy.)

Yes, I am cross-posting from LJ. Updating this journal is mainly a process of talking to myself at the moment, but I have the feeling that quite soon more people will be around since all the migration talk in fandom doesn't seem to be abating.

Vid - Hero of the World (ReGenesis; David Sandstrom)

mood: creative

ReGenesis vid; David Sandstrom, seasons 1-3. Music by Mudville.

Notes: This song was used to ironically greet David Sandstrom's return in season 2. I liked the song and the irony, so took that as a start point and ran with it from there.

Download from mediafire (42 MB, WMV file, 4.38 mins)

There is a dialup version of 19MB here, although it does pixellate a bit on the faster scenes.

[OK, Imeem is being weird, but I assume that it will start to work in due course.]

regenesis vid babble

Vidding again. ReGenesis again. David Sandstrom again.

Obsessed? Nah...

Also retreating to this journal because I can't muster the concentration to answer comments or email, and hardly anyone knows where to find me here so I feel less guilty because I'm less publicly ignoring people. :P

The vid is to Mudville's 'Hero of the World' which is used ironically in the 2nd episode of the 2nd series to greet Sandstrom's return to NorBAC. I found it amusing and I like the rhythm of it so I thought I'd take a trimmed version of the scene where it's used as an opening to the vid and then run with it. Some of the lyrics are tricky, though.

It's a lot different to the last one. Which is good, because the last one half killed me, and I think I've had enough of 'storytelling' type vids with a very rigid structure for a while. I'm also vidding it in three or four sections, then re-vidding the sections together at the end. It's just something I'm trying to make it easier to edit stuff, and it seems to be working.

I'm having to replace things as I go through as I solidify ideas of what the vid is about. It's half about David's arrogance and half other people's expectations. The failed hero or flawed hero is the theme. Caroline is in it a lot. So are David's relationships with other people in authority.

So far it looks a lot crisper than anything else I've done, which is nice, and probably to do with the practical change in how I'm putting it together. Hopefully it won't end up looking too flat at the same time, though.

I should still do the one with all the naked!scenes as well, right?

Peter Outerbridge screencaps - Better Than Chocolate

I did about a hundred screencaps of Peter Outerbridge as Judy in Better Than Chocolate. So pretty.

View on LJ galleries | Download zip file from mediafire

LJ galleries is screwing up right now, but I put the previews on geocities instead and the zip file at least should work.

vid - round 3
05:37pm 07/07/2007
Well, I finished the bloody thing. After 2 more battles to save semi-completed versions then a final one to edit and save a final draft, anyway. WMM hates this one. Serious hate.

I really like it. It's different. And vaguely spooky. Have to now see if it passes muster at beta.

I need more icons on this journal.

WMM, vidding
03:39pm 03/07/2007
Windows Movie Maker is the Devil. Seriously.

I think I've salvaged my ReGenesis vid after WMM refused to save it with the effects intact - the effects that have now been stripped from the bloody thing, meaning that I've given up on experimentation this time around and am just going to go with normal clips and transitions - and since I'm over halfway through it at 2.40 of 4.15 minutes it looks like it'll probably get finished.

If WMM will save the sodding thing, because it still really, really doesn't like saving this vid.

Thing is, its quite a serious, sombre song, which is not my usual vidding thing, and which is not particularly a David Sandstrom song either, who is funny and sexy and fuck-off-world and guh. I look on it instead as being a song about a man who has effectively been in a coma for 12 out of 13 episodes of season 1 due to the flashback device. So I reconcile it as a song, and vid, about choosing to wake up from a coma and face the shitstorm you've caused, rather than a Sandstrom vid particularly.

Because if I was to make a David Sandstrom vid, it would be full of the sex and the naked and the rebelliousness and the punching officials, and did I mention the naked?

vid chatter

I'm posting here today for variety. I have started another vid this morning, and I haven't even finished editing the OUaTiM one yet! Bad me!

It's ReGenesis, focusing on David Sandstrom's grand season 1 fuck-up. I had no intention of vidding ReGenesis, because I don't think it's a show that will lend itself to easy vidding for me, because most of the plot and action happen in dialogue and little printouts and graphics that the characters squint at. But I had been listening to the song I'm using on repeat, and I finished watching season 1 last night, and the 2 just clicked.

Randomly, I'm sure, because I'm not convinced the song's the best fit ever.

Will just have to see if I can make it work. I think my ratio of 'vids that get finished and posted' to 'vids I start then give up on' is about 50-50. Maybe 60-40?

Since the OUaTiM vid had very fast clipping, I'm going to go the other way and see what I can do with long, slow clips. Maybe the odd short one. I'm also playing with effects a bit more than usual. Normally I'm pretty basic in that regard, I don't even use the fade transitions except once in a blue moon. Just a rare fade to black or fade from white or sped up or slowed down clip.

Bwah. Somebody's made a Supernatural fanvid to Jim White's 'Handcuffed to a Fence in Mississippi'.

I'm entirely entertained by that fact alone, but it's also a really good vid. :)

OK, well somebody suggested I get an account here, but it doesn't seem incredibly busy on here from the stuff I've looked at so far. Unless I'm looking in the wrong place? So help me out -- what communities do I need to join etc.?
